Winter occurs along side the events of Maggie Steifvater's
Shiver and Linger. Because the plot is kept separate, players do not need to have read the books in order to participate within the plot, but it is recommended.
Why it happens is hard to say. How it happens is easy. The temperate drops and the body has a different reaction to the cold. You become a wolf, and leave everything you know behind until its warm again.
In Mercy Falls, people have different reasons for keeping things
secret. Relationships, jobs, sickess, their past...there are plenty of
reasons to keep quiet. A cure isn't something that stays quiet for
long.
A rumor is about as tangible as the cold. You cannot see it, but you
still know its there. Mercy Falls has already been a safe zone for those who have been bitten. After all, the Boundary Wood is home to a large population of wolves, and Minnesota is the only state in the US to have had a continuous wolf population. Seems like a convenient place to disappear for the winter. With whispers circulating that someone, somehow, managed to avoid the cold,
wolves are drawn into the area.
For some, it is an excuse to find others of their kind. After all,
the best thing they could ask for is to be human. For others, a cure would damage everything they have ever known. Whether a long-time resident of Mercy Falls or a tourist for the Holidays, its going to be a long winter.
Genevieve Corbeau isn't thrilled with the death of Jack Culpepper.
They say wolves killed him, but she knows otherwise. Owner of Bitter Ink, a local tattoo and piercing parlor, Genevieve has been helping wolves disappear from their human lives for years. Run-aways, the homeless, domestic abuse victims, someone looking for the next big thrill...she doesn't care who. If they want to be a wolf, she's more than willing to bite and erase their existence. The unwanted attention is making this more difficult.
Meanwhile, another pack has been stressing the importance of remaining human. They've gotten wind of Genevieve's pack and try to cut off her contacts to protect humans who have gotten themselves in too far.
Players needed:
Genevieve's Pack:
Humans: Those looking to become bitten,
those who work with Genevieve in Bitter Ink,
humans accidentally brought into the plot, those
who manage the store when she is gone, those
who don't know the secret, etc.
Wolves: Those turned by Genevieve in the past, 'The Bitter Ink Pack'
Other Pack:
Humans: Those who have recently lost a relative to the wolves,
those who are unaware of the plot, people suspicious of Bitter Ink
Wolves: -Pack Alpha (audition only, male or female), The Pack
The second pack will be up to the discretion of the player who
wins the audition for Alpha Position.
